From Jun 26, 1946 to October 1946: Converted to XB-42A (als afgebeeld) by adding a jet engine under each wing.
May 27, 1947: First flight as XB-42A, taking place at Muroc Air Base, CA.
Sep 18, 1947: Taken on strength with USAF. Jun 30, 1949: Flown to the Air Force Museum at Patterson Field, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
Sometime later that year the plane was transported to the Paul Garber Restoration Facility of the National Air Museum in Suitland, MD.
The aircraft remained there until 2010 when it was transported to the National Museum of the USAF.

Hoi Ruud, de Super Sabre is een F-100D, met serial 55-3668. Foto is in Engeland gemaakt. Eenheid 55 TFS, 20 TFW. Wat er uiteindelijk met het toestel is gebeurd weet ik niet. Groet Henk

Ook weer een bijzondere foto! De Seamaster had geen landingsgestel, dus de romp moest waterdicht zijn voor take-off en landing. Ik wist al, dat de bomruimte een roterende kamer was, dus kijkend naar deze aerial refueling installatie neem ik aan, dat hij ingetrokken kon worden, waarna de kamer roteert, tot de waterdicht deuren onderaan in positie kwamen (waterdichtheid werd bereikt door pneumatische rubber afdichtingen).
Weet iemand of dit inderdaad het geval is?
