DC-2 uiver for FsX.

The "UIVER" team is pleased to announce the release of the Douglas DC2 for FSX.

This is a complete rework as a TRUE native FSX product, with improved 3D modelling, complete new textures, mapping, bumpmaps, specular maps, FSX animations, new gauge programming etc.

We thank our customers for the purchase of the FS2004 model, and hope they will support the museum by purchasing this improved FSX model as well.

The revenue from the sales will be donated to the Aviodrome, Dutch National Aviation Theme Park and Museum. Aviodrome has one of the worlds last two airworthy Douglas DC-2's in their collection.

The real plane is maintained by volunteers and with the money raised from individual and corporate donations. By selling the DC-2 package we hope to contribute to keeping this unique, priceless and historic aircraft in flying condition. Your purchase will be a very welcome contribution!
The package will be sold through the Flight1 system.

Today, 31-12-2010, the "UIVER" Team published an update for the Douglas DC2 for FSX.

This update is free for existing customers of the Native FSX version. Just download the package again HERE, and re-install using your old key.

FSX, with it's numerous versions, and with all hardware available out there, is quite difficult to have working for everybody in a satisfactury way.
But now all issues reported by previous customers were fixed.

Exterior:
- Some small mapping issues fixed
- Some small 3D enhancements here and there
- Small update to the flightmodel

The power cart (external power) has some enhancements for FSX+Acceleration.
In order for it to work in FSX SP2, change the following in the electrical section in the aircraft.cfg

max_battery_voltage = 24.0 // with FSX SP2 set = 28.2, with FSX Accel set = 24.0

Interior:
- 3D modelled gauges all around
- All gauge glass have a tooltext, those gauges with more needles have split glass, in order to have appropriate tooltips for all needles
- Middle clicking the OBS knob on the old VOR1/2 gauge, will toggle the VOR1/2.
- Some 3D enhancements here and there
- Some texture enhancements in VC and cabin (check the seatbelt sign )
- Modern Bendix radio: this now has by default COM1 and NAV2, and alternatively ADF1 and NAV1 (like already implemented in the old style radio)
You can now switch the COM1 to ADF1 (click the com1 text on the gauge face. to go to adf1, and click adf1 text to go back to com1)
And you can now switch the NAV2 to NAV1 (click the NAV2 text on the gauge face to go to NAV1, and click NAV1 text to go back to NAV2)
Now all avionics in the modern VC can be tuned as well, all with 3D buttons and visibility states.

That's it basically.
We hope you will use the update, and enjoy our Douglas DC2 even more!

New customers, you will all help the Aviodrome Museum, in keeping the Douglas DC2 in flying condition, for you to enjoy in the (European) airshow circuit in the New Year, 2011!

And remember, No DC3 without the DC2.

Hallo Rob,

Had 'em al een tijdje.
In de tussentijd een nieuwe PC en veel Rise of Flight gedaan.
Nu FSX weer geinstalleerd.
De DC-2 er weer op gezet en vliegen maar.
Geweldig toestel om mee te vliegen!
Momenteel bezig met de "City Hopper" routes te vliegen met de DC-2.

Wat nog ontbreekt is een DC-3 voor FSX die in de buurt komt van de DC-3 van MAAM die zij gemaakt hebben voor FS2004.
Daar heb ik ontzettend veel mee gevlogen.
De "port over" van FS9 naar FSX vind ik niet zo'n succes i.m.h.o.

Ik heb op basis van dit bericht (link hieronder) een C-47 "samengesteld" met als uitgangspunt de C-47 van Manfred Jahn (die kan er mee door :D).

Naast deze DC's ook flink bezig met de (FSX) PBY Catalina van Aerosoft.
Als er een DC-3 / C-47 met dezelfde kwaliteit op de markt komt als de PBY dan koop ik er een blind!

FSX is helemaal niet mijn wereld, maar wat ik er van zag is zondermeer prachtig.
Complimenten, de DC2 herleeft.

Máár...ja daar komt-ie:
Zonder op allerlei kleine details te letten die niet van wezenlijk belang zijn wil
ik toch iets opmerken bij het vierde getoonde screenshot, de Uiver.

Deze heeft gevaanstande propellers.
Helaas kwam Hamilton Standard daar pas in 1937 mee op de markt.
De Uiver daarentegen verongelukte al in december 1934...

Geïnteresseerd ben ik naar de demo gegaan.
Deze is in het Engels. Een take-off met wat dwarswind wordt doorgesproken.

However: Always apply symmetrical power in a take-off!
Using a-symmetrical power in order to compensate for the influence of
crosswind is bad airmanship.
The calculated take-off performance will be impaired, the amount of which
will be unknown, creating an unsafe situation.
This goes for any multiple engined aircraft, no exceptions.

Lastig hè, maar het is niet anders.
Maar het blijft mooi!

Dank voor je reactie, en complimenten.
Ik was me zeer bewust dat de originele Uiver 2 positie props had. Dat is in FSX echter zeer moeilijk te modelleren. Ofwel fixed prop, of constant speed.
Verder hebben we ons geheel gebaseerd op het vliegtuig dat nu bij het Aviodrome vliegt. Inclusief motorvermogens en props.
Qua navigatie instrumenten en radio's hebben we ons hierop ook gebaseerd, en wel in 2 uitvoeringen.
1: de oude Bendix radio's, die zijn gemonteerd tijdens een revisie in de jaren 50, en 2: de huidige set-up met Garmin spullen.

Beste Rob,
Ik begrijp dat je allerlei concessies moet doen om in de huidige luchtvaart omgeving, met mensen en hulpmiddelen van nu, een aangepast geheel te maken, waar men blijmoedig mee uit de voeten kan.
VOR en ILS horen daar bij, maar waren destijds niet voorhanden.
Dus OBS, Omni Bearing Selectors waren er niet.
Een radiaal selecteren en hem vervolgens afvliegen bestond niet.
Er waren uitsluitend NDB's, (we vergeten de Radio Ranges maar, die met de A's en N'nen), zowel om een airway -ongeveer- mee af te vliegen, als ook voor de nadering naar een landingsbaan.
Die naderingen waren dus altijd Non Precision. Enige glijpad info bestond niet...

Nu ben ik van de oude stempel, maar je hebt géén idee hoe bevredigend het was om een Single (NDB) Beacon Approach te vliegen, goed gecorrigeerd voor allerlei windinvloeden, en dan op 400 ft in een landbare positie voor de baan uit te komen.
Vergelijkbaar met een ILS op de hand afvliegen bij een cloudbase van 100 ft!

Nee, ik begrijp dat je concessies moet doen.

Maar GARMIN in een dertiger jaren cockpit blijft voor mij "vloeken in de kerk"!!
