'k Weet niet goed of deze foto wel/niet onder KNIL-ML thuishoort maar het zijn militairen. Een klein kansje dat iemand weet wie deze heren zijn? Op Biak dus.

Hi Jacob,
In World War II, Biak is an important airbase for Japanese soldiers.
After Biak liberated by American forces, they (the Americans) established a number of military settlements (including 36 theaters under the open sky) and three airfields.
The three airfield has only one runway is used jointly to take of and landing, and located in a straight line from the southeast to the northwest. The airfields is Mokmer, Boruku and Sorido. After WWII ended, Mokmer become civilian airfields and aircraft home base for the first KLM-Dakota, Boruku used by Marine Luchtvaart Dienst MLD (Naval Aviation Administration) and Sorido is a naval base complete with barracks and warehouses.
The soldier in the photo is probably MLD soldier.
