Various sources state that 53 C-47 aircraft were converted to AC-47 (initially FC-47) aircraft.
Most, if not all of the AC-47 aircraft were transferred to the Southeast Asian Air Forces during 1969.
One source states that only 41 of the aircraft converted to AC-47 configuration were actually assigned to Southeast Asia.
