KLM - Schiphol to Batavia Pre-war
I'm looking for any information/photos on the above route that KLM flew, in particular, if any of their passenger aircraft used the Beirut airport in Lebanon ?

Hi Peter,
I don't think so. The route was via Turkey - Aleppo - Iraq.
I visited Aleppo years ago and stayed in the past glory Baron Hotel. There was a faded KLM poster showing a Fokker F.36 on the wall, if I remember well, and there still was a KLM office across the street.
Duing 1941 KLM flew Lydda (Lod) in Palestine - Batavia.
Can't you find some route maps?

Thank you for the quick reply Peter.
I will do some further searching but thought that with the great expertise here that there would be some leads similar to what you just provided.
Again, many thanks.
Fantastic site btw. It has been a great "eye opener" for me over the past few months that I have been here.
I left Holland over 50 years ago. Can still read the language but would not even attempt to write it anymore.

I paged through a few books. In the mid to late 1930s the route seems to have been Athens - (Rhodes -) Alexandria or Cairo - (Lydda - ) Baghdad.
